A little this and that...

Well there's nothing much to write about here... just waiting around for our Christmas vacation to Utah and WA! Well I guess we're doing a little more than just waiting. Adam is finishing up school with some finals and only has a couple left (he suspects all A's this semester!). I've been having fun making Christmas stuff (like reusable gift tags, and cards, stockings ect...)
We had William's 4 mo docter visit and he's doing great! He weighs 12lbs and is 24in long. Still small for his age, but growing! He got a perscription for a little thrush in his mouth and the doctor gave me some soy formula to try on him (to fatten him up lol) but he HATES the taste of it and has problems with the whole bottle thing anyway so.. it's not that sucsessful. But he's doing good and is a happy boy. We are enjoying his happy disposition. Even when he's grumpy he makes me laugh :)
Anyway, we're going to have our own family Christmas this coming Sunday and I CANT WAIT! I think I love giving even more than getting. Adam is going to have a great Christmas ;) ther than that we're just waititing to see family again! See you soon!
In the meanwhile, here's some random pictures that were on a lost chip that we discovered just the other day. Enjoy!

Gassy Baby= No-Dairy Thanksgiving= Fun!

Oops, it's been a little too long since I last posted! Well, here's the catch up:
After Halloween things slowed down ... until about 5 days later when William started to act differently. He was being more fussy, crying whenever nursed, gassy more than usual and even developed some ecxema (rashes on his skin). A week and a half of this behavior and I started to get worn down to the pont of tears, "What happened to my perfect baby!? Will life ever be the same??"
Then I called some lactacion consultants and discovered that it was all being caused by the dairy in my diet. Apearantly he has a sensitive tummy :( It made Thanksgiving dinner a little depressing for me (no rolls, no mashed potatoes, no green bean casserole... the list goes on), but other than that I'm just happy we found out what was bothering him. He still is getting it out of his system and has worse days than others, but he's usually a happy little camper now :)
We traveled down to Utah for Thanksgiving and had a ton of fun seeing family! Adam and I had some Black Friday fun with Ben and Maura (the amount of people at JoAnne's Fabric store was INSANE!!), and William and Alice had another play date.

Now we are back home just waiting for our Christmas visit to family! We started decoratig right away once we got home and William helped with putting the tree together.

We're on the same flights as Ben and Maura (not planned!) so we will be flying to and from Washington with them--3 babies, 4 adults, 1 airport... fun! *non-sarcastic* Adam only has a couple weeks left of the semester that he's counting down to now, and I'm focusing on getting presents and Christmas letters together. We're excited to see everyone in a few weeks!

Life's Too Short Not to Have a Little Fun :)

Well I thought it was about time to update this blog. So let’s start backwards.
Adam went potato gleaning a couple weeks ago with the youth in our ward and I blanched them last night so we could freeze them as french-fries and hash browns. The reason this is on the blog is because it’s quite the long process and therefore deserves to be told as an event. It was… not fun, but I’m sure the hash browns will be worth it.

Now on to more exciting things.

Halloween was great! Adam decided William was old enough for trick-or-treating (who says 3 mo is too young lol). So we got dressed up as Noah and two lions and went to some friends’ houses in our ward.

We , I mean William ;) got a lot of good candy, especially since we were some people’s only trick-or-treaters, so they dumped handfuls into our bucket (which was tied to the front of William’s stroller). William’s favorite treats were the smiling faces he received at each door we went to. He smiled right back to earn his candy, and when we got home we, I mean he, started eating it right away of course…

Then last Saturday we went to an Elder’s Quorum family activity to a straw maze! We had a chili dinner at the church and then we drove out to the straw maze. I fed William and we headed in, but not without some pictures on a tractor!

The maze was really good. We got good and lost and William probably thought this was the weirdest, longest walk we had ever been on (besides trick-or-treating). Soon he fell asleep as it started to get darker and we knew that when it got dark the maze became haunted… We didn’t want to get stuck in that, so we almost gave in to following a group that was being led out. . . then we decided we still wanted to try one more time. It wasn’t easy, but we finally made it out!

Next is the cool news that William has started reaching out and trying to grab things! That’s probably not too exciting for anyone else, but I love each new thing he does! (Spoken like a true mother). It makes me so happy to see him learning and growing in the right developmental stages. So that has been fun.

Lastly, a couple weeks ago a made some baby shower gifts for two people I know having girls. I had been Pinteresting (my new favorite thing to do while I nurse) and I saw a lot of flower roses and decided I should try to make some jersey rosettes for some headwear I could give. They actually turned out good and I put one on a hat I had and another on a headband I made. I tried them on William to see how they looked.
Turns out they look good, but the better news is that William still looks like a boy even in girly hats on! His father still wouldn’t like that I’m putting girl stuff on him though (especially taking pictures and posting them for everyone to see lol), but who cares! Life’s too short not to have a little fun!

FHE Adventures

So this week for FHE we decided we’d go to a pumpkin patch to choose our pumpkins. Adam had never been to one before and we thought we'd start a new tradition. We knew of a good one down in Rigby and since we only had so much time till our next feeding we rushed down to try to pick out some pumpkins. Once we got there we put William in a stroller (since he was sleeping) and headed out on our grand adventure in the pumpkin patch. I call it a grand adventure because that’s what it turned out to be...
As we started into the pumpkin patch we realized that the stroller was going to have a rough time in the soft, viney dirt/mud (as it bounced vigorously and got stuck every 5 seconds), but we continued to plow forward because we really had no other choice (we couldn’t just leave him somewhere randomly--at least, that's what Adam told me lol). That turned out to be the first clue that this was going to be more adventurous than we thought.
Adam decided he wanted the biggest pumpkin he could find *of course* and we heard they were all the way at the back (naturally). SO we had to venture out there to see—second clue. Adam finally found his nice big pumpkin (although still not as big as he wanted), and I found a nice tall one for me. We also grabbed a perfect little round one for William while we were at it and shoved it in the bottom of the stroller. Then, after some fun pictures of the experience, we decided it was time to get back while it was still barely light enough for us to see--third clue. What we didn’t think of was how we were going to carry two 20+lb pumpkins AND push a stroller at the same time… Adam didn’t want to make two trips (and frankly, neither did I), so he carried his pumpkin in one arm and pulled the stroller with the other (bumping along behind him)--fourth clue.
Then (here comes the climax) faster than you can say, "I’m struggling to carry a twenty pound pumpkin Iguess I better go to the gym soon," 6 things happened.
1) I turn to see the stroller start to tip, as the wheels on one side went over a particularly large bump.
2) I quickly shifted my pumpkin to my right arm and reached out next to me to catch the car seat I thought would fall out of the stroller.
3) I noticed Adam had it all under control, so I ditched my efforts to save it and now swung my arm back around to try to catch my pumpkin which was now starting to slide out of my increadably weak right arm.
4) As my left hand* (thats another clue) reached the top of the arch my arm was making I felt my wedding ring—which had become loose on my finger from the cold—start to slip forward off my finger. *GASP!!
5) I curled my fingers to keep it on as I continued my motion to catch my pumpkin, but my effort failed and my ring flew off my finger somewhere onto the vine and pumpkin-strewn dirt path around us. *DOUBLE GASP!!
6) It all the sudden had become really dark.
I regrettably told Adam what had happened and we both dropped our pumpkins where we stood and started to look around. Unfortunately the whole tipping incident woke William up who decided now was a great time to cry. We started looking in the general area I thought it flew. We were using our phone lights to aid us in our search, and my hopelessness was growing. After ten minutes we decided we needed divine help so we prayed to be able to find it (and soon so we could find it and get home before I had to feed William). I felt like we needed more light to even make finding it possible, so I ran to get flashlights from the farmer who he offered to help. We were all out there looking, and soon after he came he found it in an area off to the side of where I thought it would be—Answer to our prayers!
We thanked him, paid for our pumpkins, and were able to make it home to feed William right on time. So it turned out to be an exciting FHE. We had an activity of picking pumpkins and a lesson on the power of prayer. The most eventful, fun, and stressful FHE we’ve had all year, and a great start to a family tradition (hope losing my wedding ring wont become part of it!!)

And this was taken after we got home... Somone is taking after his daddy... :)

A video or two to tide those grandparents over :)

One of Daddy's favorite things to do with me is to put me in the bumbo and set me on the counter so I'm at better talking level. Here's a video of one of our many conversations!

Lately...

Well, life has been going great and seems to be going so fast! Too fast. Although, our wish for William to stay small seems to be coming true… The other day and the Doctors office we found out that William is in the 6th percentile in weight and height! He weights 9lbs 14oz right now-ish. We’ve been told this isn’t a predictor for how he will turn out overall, but we’ll just have to sit back and see I guess. He also got his immunization shots at that visit and didn’t do too bad (even though it was sad to watch). He cried a little and then slept A LOT the rest of the day.
Then this last weekend we had family come into town to witness his baby blessing. It was so fun to see everyone, and the blessing was really neat! Mom and Dad Brewer came from Vancouver and Ben, Maura, Alice, Maraliee, Mom and Dad Remund, and Clark all came from Utah. It was a short visit unfortunately, but we loved having visitors!! We went to the Apple Orchard on Campus and picked a lot of apples (they are only .50/lb), everyone was able to see campus, and we got to enjoy some swimming in the hotel Mom and Dad Brewer stayed in. Adam gave a great blessing and we were able to record what was said. It will be fun for William to have that throughout his life.
Adam has been going to school and doing homework. Lately he’s had quite a few papers to write and he’s been looking for internships for next summer. We’re looking for any that is near family we can stay with since that will be a non-income summer… If anyone knows of any, let us know!

Can you tell we're related!?

Daddy has fun with me...

Making me sit up and hold remotes, making fun of my sleeping faces (or hiding ones)... yep, we have fun :)

Trying to catch a smile :)

William has gained the new talent of smiling and "cooing" every time you smile and talk to him. The only tricky part is trying to catch it on camera! These are the precious few we've caught. Other than this new development, his days still consist of eating, sleeping, and filling diapers.
